• How much money do I need to get started?
The average initial investment to open a single Husband & Wife ranges from $52,620 - $156,950. These costs include franchise fee, lease deposits, leasehold improvements, fixtures and equipment, miscellaneous suppliers, opening inventory, initial advertising, signs and working capital. Some franchisees have opened for even less depending on different variables such as lease, build out and size of store.
• Is financing available?
Husband & Wife does not offer financing. Personal loans and personal finance programs have been utilized by financially qualified franchises to finance their stores. SBA loans are not available for Husband & Wife stores.
• How long will it take to get my Husband & Wife franchise open?
Each location is different, depending on a variety of factors, including site selection, build-out requirements and training. It usually takes most franchises a minimum of 2-3 months from signing the disclosure documents.
•What fees will I be paying in terms of royalties and/or advertising?
The monthly royalty is 3% of net sales (gross sales less sales tax). Building regional and national recognition of the Husband & Wife name and reputation is an essential objective of the system. Each store expects a minimum of 6% or $600 which ever is greater, on local advertising in their local markets using approved materials. Additionally, the national advertising fund established requires you to contribute an additional 1% of monthly net sales to that fund.
• How much money can I make as a Husband & Wife Store?
The Federal Trade Commission, through the Franchise Disclosure Document contract, prohibits Husband & Wife from making specific profit projections. We encourage you to learn more about our stores by speaking with our franchisees. Our franchisees were once in your position of investigating our franchise program and had many of the same questions you probably have now. • Do I receive training by Husband & Wife?
Husband & Wife Training is a 2 week training program. Usually broken down into three parts.
1. When you first get started the Franchise Director over you area will come out to your territory and train you for 2 days. This training will include things like Introdution to Retail Bussinesses and How to Find a Great Location.
2. Prior to your store opening, we will furnish 3-4 days of initial training on the operation of a Husband & Wife Store. The training will be at one of our Husband & Wife locations.
3. As you are approaching your Grand Opening you will receive 1 additional week of training at your location. Our Director of Franchise Operations will be there to walk you through pre-opening and opening of your Husband & Wife store to make sure everything goes smoothly.
• What form of continuing support will I receive?
Husband & Wife will offer you continuous marketing support. We have a Marketing Coordinator who will work hand-in-hand with you to create a marketing plan that is not only something that will work for your store, but that is also something you feel comfortable with. We want to make sure that every program you implement is something that will be successful for you. Effective marketing is crucial to the profitability and growth of any business. Husband & Wife also offers continual training when requested.
• How do I get started?
The first step is to contact Chris at 801-310-8010 and we will arrange a meeting in person or over the phone with you to address any question you may have. We will also send over the Franchise Disclosure Documents for your review. Our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) contains information required by the Federal Trade Commission and the particular state in which your Husband & Wife store will be located. A copy of our franchise agreement is contained in this document. The FDD will enable you to diligently investigate our franchise program. This does not obligate you or Husband & Wife in any way.
• Do I need prior retail experience to own a Husband & Wife?
While it does help to have prior retail experience, Husband & Wife does not require it. What is most important to us is that we have franchisees with a willingness to work hard and a passion for their business.
• How many employees will I need?
Each Husband & Wife needs approximately 3 people, including 2 part-time employees and 1 full-time employee. If you are going to work full time at your store it is still recommended you have 1 part time employee. You may need more seasonal employees during Valentines.

• Is there someone to guide me through the entire process?
Absolutely. We are staffed with a team of well-qualified professionals who are here to help you feel comfortable in every step you take with Husband & Wife. We have a Director of Franchisee Operations who will guide you through the process from your site selection until your doors open for business. Our entire staff works hard to ensure that you have a successful opening and is always available for communication to continue the success of your store. Your success is our success!
